Breaking News: Cameron Shuts Out Public on EU Vote after mass lobby was planned of Parliament.

A vote in Parliament on an EU referendum was scheduled to happen on Thursday 27th October 2011. Hours after hearing this, the People’s Pledge announced a mass lobby of Parliament for that day. The government has now switched the date of the vote to this Monday (24th October) after ministers were worried about the huge number of people the People’s Pledge would be able to mobilise.

Mark Seddon Director of the People’s Pledge said: ‘It’s no coincidence that the government has brought forward the vote after we announced that our tens of thousands of supporters would be mobilised to lobby their MPs. This is an outrageous attempt to stifle debate and peaceful protest. Not only does the government want to not have are referendum on the EU, but they want to shut down the debate altogether.

Here is what you can do

I am not in the least surprised at the change of the date of the vote on a referendum. There are bound to be a reason but it will not mention Peoples Pledge there will be some other excuse.

For decades the electorate have been deceived and there is little we can do about it. Threatening an MP that you will not vote for them is worthless. Once elected MP’s forget their doorstep rhetoric and do as they are told by the whps. In a true democracy EVERY vote in parliament should be a free vote then perhaps the MP’s will cast their vote based on their constituents deciions.

David Cameron promised the coalition will last for one parliament and he will do all in his power to achieve that regardless of anything else. A referendum would be against the LIBDems wishes and they would not support it so there will be no referendum.

So switch the mass lobby day to 24th! Perhaps have an extra weekend rally.

They’ve shown their hand, which will cheese people off even more.

    Reschedule that mass lobby day!

That` DEMOCRACY people, how to cling on to power. The politics of a despot!!

  4. 4 Colin Bullen said at 9:15 pm on October 19th, 2011:

Typical behaviour of the political class who are desperate to preserve their places on the EU gravy train regardless of what happens to Britain and her people

  5. 5 Pat Roberts said at 9:29 pm on October 19th, 2011:

For any People’s Pledge supporters who happen to be members of the Conservative Party, there is one obvious thing they can do in response to this cynical and shameful move by Cameron &co: resign from the party. That’s what I am doing.

  6. 6 Beren said at 10:10 pm on October 19th, 2011:

You are all doing extremely good work despite fierce opposition. Thank you.

  7. 7 JOHN IRETON said at 10:36 pm on October 19th, 2011:

I have come to the conclusion that if our political leaders had wooden faces the majority would have extreemly long noses.

  8. 8 John Brereton said at 12:06 am on October 20th, 2011:

Well lets go there on Monday instead . I’m going to the debate in Westminster on Saturday and will be willing to go on Monday too .

Further to my last, I have written to my MP but I know for a fact that he is a rabid Europhile and nothing I say will change the idiot’s mind.

  10. 10 W.P. Metcalf said at 7:01 am on October 20th, 2011:

I am not surprised that David Cameron is willing to do anything to stop a referendum as the EU is a complete mess and from one radio report yesterday France may need a Greek style support

  11. 11 Jim Porter said at 12:15 pm on October 20th, 2011:

It’s an absolute disgrace. It’s almost irrelevant what the result of a referendum would be. The fact is that the whole country is being denied the right to have a say. We are being held prisoners to the views and opinions of a tiny minority of Very wealthy individuals who’s vested interests are definitely served by keeping the gravy train rolling.
The question won’t go away. Something of this magnitude needs a united people. We are not, a significant number disagree. If our political classes do not wake up I see trouble in the future. Personally, I’m against our membership of such a disparate group of countries with such widely spread core values, it can’t work. The southern sections sell sunshine! and very little else.
All this is not relevant however, without the electorates approval the dispute will rumble on and on. We may surprise King Cameron and agree. If he doesn’t ask he’ll never know. Neither will we. Hold the referendum and abide by the result!

ARE WE MEETING ON MONDAY AT THE HOUSES OF PARLIAMENT ….., INSTEAD OF THURSDAY …, WE CAN STILL MOBILISE POTENTIALLY 100,000 + PEOPLE …., IF WE COMBINE THIS WITH A CALL WITH THE DAILY EXPRESS ???

IF SO …., THEN PLEASE EMAIL THE PEOPLE’S PLEDGE DATABSE WITH THE NEW DETAILS

  13. 13 Yorky Ashton. said at 3:13 pm on October 20th, 2011:

Typical Cameron, fudge, dodge, evade, obfuscation, you cannot rely on the man. But we would be far worse off if Labour were in, and he knows it. And we know it so we are knackered either way. Keep the Faith

  14. 14 Mike Leach said at 3:54 pm on October 20th, 2011:

Is it not time for a People’s Pledge party? A party that will actually carry out the will of the people

  15. 15 Robo said at 4:12 pm on October 20th, 2011:

It’s no use me writing to my MP, he’s Labour (Vernon Coaker) and follows the party line no matter what. He was all for the EU during the last government and I don’t see him rocking his little boat at all since that would spoil his future job prospects. So we are stuck with political pygmies in the present government who still have a whole host of plausible lies to tell us when they think it necessary. Cameron is no better than the last two incarnations of Prime Minister and just goes his own way regardless off the opinions of the electorate.

  16. 16 Ken Wyatt said at 4:40 pm on October 20th, 2011:

I`ve said from time to time that G/ Britain needs some body of the name of CROMWELL to bring that place back to order. When we now witness a government deliberately trying to deny the people their god given right to democracy, the same government which is so concerned about the lack of the same democracy in foreign lands, Middle East, Rhodesia etc practices what others practice to keep the people down. As I stated yesterday, the turkey`s in the oven ready for a bloody good basting. Listen to your Foreign Secretary `Dave`, LISTEN!!

  17. 17 Paul Grant said at 11:34 pm on October 20th, 2011:

Thank God for the People’s Pledge, The Daily Express, UKIP and all the others that have campaigned relentlessly to makea chink in Cameron’s armour. The writing is on the wall for the Euro-project and Cameron and his champagne-socialist pals, in Whitehall, know it. The European Union has been one long series of failures after the other. With every aspect of British life ruined by excessive cost (morally and financially):discipline in schools, immigration, price of fuel (domestic and commercial); price of food and every other damn thing I can think of – going through the roof. Myself, and people I know can barely feed themselwves, keep a roof over their heads or keep their cars on the road beacause of all the stupid rules and diktats coming from Europe. It’s been obvious to me for a long time that Cameron was never a leader – I voiced my opinion to friends and colleagues in the run-up to the Conservative leadership election. It seems that nowadays it’s the showy, self-obsessed types that are given the Kudos. Sure; Cameron is pretty, dresses well, and can speak eloquently. But he’s weak and certainly not up to the task of leading. I’d rather a plain looker, who dresses smart and who although not a great talker, says what he means and means what he says…When he does speak. Imagine Cameron trying to rally the country in the 40′s, against the Nazis? Exactly! It’s time for a real person – regardless of appearance – and who cares about the country and it’s people, to take charge. Please step forward – Mr.Farage, Mr.Davies, Ms.Patel, Mr.Pickles and Mr.Redwood – your country needs you.

Forget about LibLabCon, if you really want to leave the EU then you should vote UKIP. Stop wasting time, for God sake join UKIP.

  19. 19 John Alford said at 8:29 pm on October 21st, 2011:

What a supprise, the people of this counrty or even Europe have never been told the truth right from the begining in the 1950s all our “great leaders” have pretended it was just a way for all our nations to keep our national identity but trade without barriors , Mr Heath even pretended it was called The Common Market but all the time they all knew the end result was always going to be a Federal Europe.
There is only one answer to this problem & that is to get out of the EU

  20. 20 Ernest Mundy said at 12:31 am on October 22nd, 2011:

Paul you are dead right. When Europe says jump we ask “How high?” and we are not members. Those that are members just ignore the diktats

  21. 21 Bill Whitney said at 6:36 pm on October 22nd, 2011:

Reponse from my MP Do not tar them all with the same brush Dear Mr Whitney,Thank you for your message. I agree with you.I have signed the Peoples Pledge and you can see my 30 second video explaining why I support a referendum on their website at http://peoplespledge.org/mp/martin_vickersThe EU has evolved beyond what those who supported continued membership anticipated when they voted to remain as members of the Common Market in the 1975 vote and most of the electorate are too young to have participated in that vote referendum – the country deserves an opportunity to express a view in the not too distant future.I am old enough to have voted in 1975; I voted NO and have remained a Eurosceptic ever since.I support having a referendum.Yours sincerely,Martin VickersMember of Parliament for the Cleethorpes Constituency

  22. 22 Ernest Mundy said at 12:21 pm on October 25th, 2011:

At least there is one honest MP

  23. 23 Victor BRUMBY said at 5:48 pm on October 28th, 2011:

Precisely, Jim Porter. The outcome of an eventual referendum is not what is at issue right now. It is the continual blocking of a popular call for a review of the status quo, which is exercising us. As for the wish to exit this bureaucratic nightmare which is the Euro-go-round, there’s enough in Europe for everyone to make a living, in or out of a customs zone, or a currency zone or any other co-operative. And we won’t go to war when it finally evaporates, as the doomsayers predict!
Remember that we can like the continental folk very well – but we shouldn’t go to bed with them.

  24. 24 james wyatt said at 2:44 am on October 30th, 2011:

I have heard that the eu are sending representatives to ask china for money,,,,,,it beggars belief…..I hope our eastern gentlemen send these brats back to europe with a flea in their ear

  25. 25 Ernest Mundy said at 12:22 pm on October 31st, 2011:

Why should China refuse to lend the EU $60 billion ? It will put them in a commanding position to buy European companies without any bother.

Isn’t it nice that Nick Clegg has agreed that Cameron can demand limited power back from Brussels, He is so kind when a recent poll showed 94% wanting to get out. It is nice to know that our so called Prime Minister has to ask the smallest party in parliament permission before he can do anything. We need another election and the sooner the better.
